Fountain Tire / The Safest Highway

Highway 44 in northern Alberta has become one of Canada’s deadliest stretches of road due to treacherous winter conditions and single lane traffic for a majority of its 172 kilometre span. That’s why during the 2017 winter, Fountain Tire set out to change that by setting up a tread-depth-reader in front of a rest-stop gas station located just minutes from Highway 44.

To make the highway even safer we used LED boards placed at the entrance of the highway informing drivers in real-time of upcoming weather, visibility and collisions by pulling data from Twitter, Waze and weather sites.
